SIRIUS-3000 / 5AX is equipped with a very powerful built-in motor spindle of 69.7Kw and is capable of high-speed machining at 24,000Rpm. The high precision 2 axis direct drive milling head, designed and manufactured by Hwacheon, it’s spindle designed with Hwacheon unique Air-Oil lubrication system combined with an effective jacket oil cooling circulation system to ensure consistent performance and to provide high temperature stability while producing quality products hours after hours during high speed runs.

Stable, Symmetrical Portal-Type Structure

The Gantry design provides most stable support for the Y-axis feed system, the symmetrical structure that distributes the load, vibration and heat of the upper machine area throughout the entire frame enables stable feed even during prolonged operation. Also, minimizing the distance between the Y-axis feed system and the tool’s machining point maintains rigidity and increases machining precision.

Direct Drive Type Rotation Axis

Direct-drive motors are integrated with high-precision encoder without any mechanical transmission such as gears, resulting in minimized backlash and enables high-precision angle division of 0.0001° as well as high-speed rotation feed at 50 rpm, thereby increasing precision and reducing machining time. Also, a powerful hydraulic brake system ensures sufficient rigidity during 3+2 axis machining.

High-Efficiency Multi-Axis Machining

SIRIUS-3000 / 5AX can implement multiple processes with a single setting by machining even undercut areas that cannot be cut by 3-axis. Instead of using ball-end mill to fine cut a surface, it utilizes the sweep function that cuts with the side and base of the end mill to reduce the machining time. It shortens the tool length and provides operations with the ball-end mill’s side blade rather than the end point leads to longer tool life and smooth cut surfaces.

Double column frame structure enables best stability during roughing operations. The table and bed are manufactured from meehanite cast iron to minimize deformation. The design has been optimized through 3D CAD and finite element analysis.

No-Contact, Long-Life Hydrostatic Bearing

The use of high-rigidity hydrostatic bearing enables to produce higher quality machined surface than with standard bearing due to vibration dampening effect by the oil film implemented including forced oil cooling system.

Curvic Coupling

Curvic coupling between the tool holder and the ram provides secured clamping and enables high-precision machining.

Compact 5-axis machining center for part and most complex contour applications. Cycle times are kept at its lowest due to high acceleration / deceleration times as well as powerful spindle. The design considers easy access for robot handling, Automatic Workpiece Changer (AWC), Hwacheon Multi Pallet (HMP) and Automatic Pallet Changer (APC).

Four (4) different built-in motor spindles can be selected to guarantee optimum cutting performance and conditions. From high speed to high torque, suitable from aluminium to titanium or stainless steel, this machine provides the best machine configuration. Comes standard with BBT-40.

The 2-axis rotary / swivel table with cantilever support can handle parts up to 600 kg, precisely positioned or synchronized operating. Chip discharge is safe and fast through designed chip flow. Easy access to table is provided by an auto ceiling opening / closing latch.

Customer can select the HRCC option (Hwacheon Rotation Center Calibration System) which include a touch probe and specific software to calibrate all 5-axis quickly and accurately.
